The Carbon Material Research Group (CMRG) focus in the development of nanoporous carbon material made from natural material as well as polymer. The produced carbon has superior characteristics like has the pore surface area (up to 3000 m²/g) and the ease of modification of the pore structure and functional groups.

The produced carbon is tested with various application, i.e.;

1. Energy conversion: Catalyst and catalyst carrier
2. Gas Storage: Adsorbent of hydrogen, methane, and carbon dioxide gas
3. Separation/purification technology: Ethylene scavenger and molecular sieve
4. Energy storage: Supercapacitors and batteries
